Turning a work tote brief into a factory consultation pack: from the concept and dimensioned views to the first sample questions.
The starting brief.
Fictional brief: an accessories brand wants an understated bag for commuting and coworking. It should carry a laptop within the stated envelope, an A5 notebook and a small pouch, fit over the shoulder and close fully.
One size, one colour and a manageable textile construction. This case has no client, order or physical prototype.

From drawings to a usable pack.

Details that make the brief clearer.
The zip must provide at least 350 mm of clear access. The laptop sleeve targets a 330 × 240 × 25 mm cavity, with its bottom raised 15 mm. The 30 mm handles use four internal backing patches.
These values are design decisions, not measurements of an existing product. The pack connects parts P01 to P12 with proposed materials, drawings and questions for the manufacturer.
What is actually ready.
The brief, views, dimensions, bill of materials and consultation and sample checklists are prepared. AI contributed to concepts, structure and translation; dimensional consistency checks can be reproduced from the specification file.
Next comes a technical sewing review: pattern, bulk, seams and reinforcements. A physical sample must then confirm laptop access, comfort and durability. No strength testing or industrial approval has taken place.
