Manufacture your branded product in China

By Fabrup · Updated September 8, 2026

Manufacturing your own product requires more than a factory price. You need to define what will be made, under which conditions and with what approval evidence.

Distinguish customisation from custom development

Changing a catalogue product’s colour or logo differs from creating a mechanism or new geometry. Custom development may require drawings, prototypes and tooling before a production order. Fabrup helps with manufacturer research, supplier comparisons and production coordination, involving design specialists where needed.

Give manufacturers the same brief

Comparable quotes need the same drawings, materials, finishes, volumes, checks and packaging. Ask factories to state assumptions and exclusions. A lower quote may omit testing, tooling or a finish. Separate development, parts, inspection and transport costs to understand the investment.

Plan for the target market

Intended use, materials and product category determine which requirements need assessment. For the European market, not every product requires CE marking. A generic factory document does not establish compliance of the delivered model. Define the applicable requirements and evidence with qualified specialists and use appropriate laboratories where needed.

Keep an approved production reference

Approved documentation and reference samples define what has been accepted before production. A control plan sets the characteristics, methods and treatment of defects. Changes in materials, components or processes need identification and review. Inspections reduce uncertainty; they are not an absolute guarantee for every unit.

Compare quotes on the same basis

Compare specification revision, materials, minimum quantity per variant, unit price at the same volume, tooling, samples, packaging, checks, departure timing and transport inclusions. Treat an empty field as an open question. Compare totals only after clarifying differences in scope.

Include e-commerce requirements

For your website, Amazon or another marketplace, plan packaging, instructions, product identification and shipping resistance early. Sales-channel requirements sit alongside market requirements. Fabrup coordinates preparation and manufacturing within an agreed scope, with external costs identified. We start by reviewing the project and its readiness.
